A Certified Secretary (CS) is a trained, examined, certified professional deemed competent in a number of key roles and responsibilities, namely board services, governance, compliance, administration, public policy, ethics, integrity, communication and records management.
Path to becoming a Certified Secretary (CS): What are the steps ?
STEP 1:
Register with kasneb for the Certified Secretaries (CS) program. See www.kasneb.or.ke
STEP 2:
Enroll for https://sgb.ac.ke/cs/ at an Accredited Institution like www.sgb.ac.ke
STEP 3:
Sit and Pass Final CS Exam examined by kasneb.
STEP 4:
Register with the Registration of Certified Public Secretaries Board.
STEP 5:
Join the institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS – K) and become a Certified Secretary.
What are the duties and roles of a Certified Secretary?
- Facilitate meetings and other board procedures
- Oversee general administration and corporate services
- Oversee risk and compliance functions
- Corporate communication and records management function
- Facilitate development, review, implementation and advise on corporate governance, ethics, integrity and compliance framework and policies.
- Oversee governance audits and report on implementation of recommendations
- Ensure appropriate frameworks on ESG
- Facilitate development, approval, review and implementation of code of conduct
- Facilitate the development, review, implementation and periodic assessment of ethics strategy, budgets, programs etc.
